Using sender's identity?!

Description
Thunderbird just updated itself to Virtual Identity 0.5.9 yesterday, and ever since I've had no end of grief. (Earlier versions worked fine; I'm not sure exactly which one I had installed prior to this.)
Specifically, when replying to a newsgroup post, Virtual Identity invariably changes my From address to match the From address of the original message (ie. the person that I'm trying to reply *to*).
It also seems to completely ignore the options in the settings -- I've tried turning various options off, and turning the options on to display a prompt dialog to select between identities, but despite the banner claiming that multiple identities were found it never gives me a selection prompt.

Hi,
sorry for your troube. I had no other negative reactions on 0.5.9 describing your problems and the changes between 0.5.8 and 0.5.9 are rather small, so you might have used an earlier version. After the update, did you had to click through an update dialog? (will be an indication that you had an earlier version than 0.5.8 before)
To trace the problem, it will be great if you can post the debug-output in a case when it 'goes nuts', just activate the related option in the last Tab of the extension preferences dialog. Before posting please check for any confidential information in the log and replace it.
Nice regards and thanks for the report, Rene

No, there was no upgrade dialog this time (though I remember having seen one during the previous upgrade), so I guess that means I was using 0.5.8 before.
Looking at the revision history, I suspect that the fix for issue #104 introduced this bug, since newsgroup posts don't have Received: headers.

Hi,
ohoh, you are completely right. Don't use newsgroups by now and therefore forgot about them somehow in the implemented solution. I got this fixed with commit [478]. Just check the new release 0.5.10 which you can find in the download section. And please report if this really fixes your problem.
Nice regards and thanks for pointing me to the problem, Rene

Yes, that seems to have done the trick. After enabling Smart Draft again, it now seems to respect the options to prompt for an identity, and even if I turn those off it uses the normal identity instead of the original sender's address.
I can't verify whether it still works for email, since I'm not using TB for email any more.
Ok, the key problem appears to be the "Use Smart Draft" option. If this is unchecked then it seems to behave itself; if it's checked then it goes nuts.
