66While sending a message with a Virtual Identity, the extension simply creates a complete new account for you. Additionally for this new, temporary Account a new Identity is created. After your email was sent successfully, the Account (including the Identity) is removed.

1212It's exactly as easy as it looks, while composing any email you can now edit the 'From:' field of your email to whatever you like. Whatever, as long as your mail-server accepts the resulting mail address as a valid one. But there are things to be aware of:
    1313
14    1. with a too exotic email-address (maybe from a nonexistent domain name) your emails might be end always in the receivers Spam-folder.

1515   2. all information about mail-servers the email passes are kept intact (yes, what else do you think?). So it's not the right tool to remove your traces if you send an email.

2323Changing the 'From:' field is easy, just open the Message-Compose Dialog and move the cursor over the 'From:-field. You will notice, that the cursor-shape changes. If it's an arrow, you can use the drop down-menu to select any stored identity. If you are moving the cursor over the senders name, it changes to the editor-shape, click and you can change the senders name. To indicate that you are now using a Virtual Identity the color of the entry will change to red and the Status-Bar will indicate that virtual identity is activated.

25If you like, you can activate or deactivate a integrated drop-down menu to select the SMTP-Server and use some color indication in From-field to indicate, which fields will be stored for later reuse. Check the preferences [wiki:docs/0.8/tab2/tree1 "Compose-Dialog"-Tab].
