Description

Hi, I just updated my SM installation to 2.0.1 and tried to install Virtual Identity: neither 0.5.12 nor 0.6.0rc1 work. Both state the incompatibility of V-ID with this version of Seamonkey. Can you enable V-ID for all of the 2.* versions to be safe for the future?

Kind regards, Mathis from Hannover, Germany

DoItYourSelf?

Download the *.xpi (this is a renamed zip-file)

Install 7-zip, notepad++, notepad++ shell-extension (either 32bit or 64bit)

Set file format to ANSI and UNIX, this makes your Fritz.Box! and all other toys with an embedded UNIX happy when you edit files to be used outside Wingoofy.

right-klick on *.xpi -> 7-Zip -> Open (Öffnen ;-)) drag install.rdf (text-file) to your desktop right-klick on install.rdf -> Edit with Notepad++

change the SeaMonkey? section to

<!-- Seamonkey -->

<RDF:Description RDF:about="rdf:#$rjP94"

em:id="{92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a}" em:minVersion="1.1" em:maxVersion="2.*" />

this allows you to install with any Seamonkey Version "2.x.x" (other options "2.0.*" for those bugfixes of "2.0" or "99.*" to install a long time [not very smart to do so!])

drag the changed install.rdf back to the open *.xpi in 7-Zip and overwrite the existing file. Close 7-Zip. Install from within SeaMonkey? 2.0.1.

This doesn't guarantee that the Add-on works with SeaMonkey? 2.0.1 it just allows you to install it. But if it worked with am previous SeaMonkey? 2.x version there is a good chance it will with 2.0.1 too.

Hi Mathias,

rc1 hatte sowieso nen bösen Fehler, der nun hoffentlich behoben ist. Also freu dich auf rc2, die nun verfügbar ist und auch mit Seamonkey 2.0.1 kompatibel sein sollte.

Viele Grüße, Rene
