#301 closed defect (wontfix)

If (From == To) don't use that address in replies.

A common case for sending e-mail is for a sender to use their own address in the To: field and all the recipients in the BCC field. Using Virtual Identity, replies to this message come "From" the person you're sending the mail to, so if you don't catch that they're confused and don't easily know who is replying.

If the message is of the form From: Joe Smith <joesmith@…> To: Joe Smith <joesmith@…> Subject: Test E-mail Body: Hi everybody! Please reply to confirm your spot at our upcoming event. -Joe.

and it's received by me, WBT <wbt@…>, I do NOT want the reply to be: From: Joe Smith <joesmith@…> but instead either use the address it was received on (<wbt@…>) or a default account, which will at least have something close to the right name on it, and at the very least could prompt a "who is this" if that wasn't clear. Having it be From Joe Smith <joesmith@…> is definitely not appropriate, and it'd be easy enough to check for this border case.

Thanks! WBT

as a border-case I won't implement a special handling. If you configure the extension to use the receiving address with Smart-Reply, everything should be fine. Just check which headers contain the receivers address (your address in this case) and it should work.

Thanks for reporting, closing the ticket for now. If you require further configuration tips please reopen.
