When replying from the list the sender address is wrong

Reported by: virtualid@… Owned by: rene
Version: 0.5.11 Keywords:
Cc:

Description

Select a mail in the list view, do not open it. Hit the reply button.

Now the sender's address of the original mail is used as sender, the recipient field stays empty.

Version is 0.5.11 which is not available in the list.

Hi,

thanks for the report. Can you please post the debug-log of a case when it happens like this? Activate the debug-log in the Preferences-Dialog (last Tab). Think of replacing confidential email addresses before posting the log. Beside, which version of Thunderbird/Seamonkey? you are using?

Nice regards, Rene

Hi,

thanks for the response. I really like this addon, beats adding new identities to the account for every recipient. Kept forgetting to use them anyway ;-) Smart reply helps a lot...

I sent an email from "from@…" to "to@…"

See the log below. Running Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 (german version) under windows 7 (german version), sorry for the german part of the log...

best regards, Lars

Hi Lars,

seems like you are replying to an email which does not contain any received headers. Therefore the extension assumes that this email was sent, not received...

## vI_smartIdentity: reply on non-received (sent?) mail. Using SmartDraft.
## vI_smartIdentity: ReplyOnSent() (rules like SmartDraft)

See #124 for somebody reporting the same thing and a probable solution (use 0.6 preview and set the option smart_detectByReceivedHeader to false).

Tell me if this helps in your case, nice regards,

Rene

Hi Rene,

I'm afraid I'm unable test that. I have the german version installed and can't find the option you mentioned. Can you give me a hint in which tab in the settings I have to look?

The mail does contain received headers. As I stated before, it does work correctly after opening the mail.

best regards,

Lars

Hi Lars,

as mentioned in #124 , this option is hidden, means not available in the configuration interface of the extension. But if you check the Thundebird Preferences you can find a Preferences Editor and change the option. Currently don't have a Thunderbird available and can't describe this more accurate.

Please report back if you can find the option (only works for 0.6 pre) - else I will search again the next days.

Nice Regards, Rene

Hi,

as mentioned above:

use 0.6 preview and

TBMenu->Edit->Preferences

Advanced->ConfigEditor?

set the option extensions.virtualIdentity.smart_detectByReceivedHeader to false

Nice regards, Rene
