Wrong From/To in reply to a Mailingslist under Windows

Reported by: vi@… Owned by: rene

Description

I stumbled over the following problem:

Using VI with Smart Reply option, VI makes an error in setting the correct To/From?. Example: Reveiving a mail from a yahoogroups Mailing list with the following headers: From a@… Sun Sep 4 23:52:15 2005 X-Sender: a@… X-Apparently-To: sr_d@… To: sr_d@… Sender: sr_d@… Reply-To: sr_d@…

If I hit reply, the Headers are set this way:

From: <sr_d@…> (New Virtual Identity) To: Empty

This is not the way I expect it, and need it. And I think its wrong.

Would be nice to get it fixed. To should be the reply-to address given in the mail. From should be my normal address (or a stored vi), but even if I store a vi for the from address, the error still occurs.

Regards,

Christian.

please activate the Debug-Output (see the settings dialog) and post the output shown in the Message-Compose-Window after hitting reply. This output might contain private Data like email addresses, so maybe replace the relevant strings.

Thanks for the report, regards, Rene

Hi,

think the order of the read Headers is changed in your configuration. If you open the settings dialog and reset the default values in the Smart-Reply Headers Tab, they will be rarranged.

In your current case the To: address is found before the x-original-to:, and at the end the first found address is used to send the mail. Because it makes no sense to have the same sender and recipient, Virtal Identity removes the recipient of your email (the reply-to one). After changing the order of the headers, everything should be fine.

Nice Regards,

Rene
